| Description: | Ornithine is a non-essential amino acid found in meat, fish, dairy and eggs. In the body ornithine is produced from arginine and it produces citrulline, glutamic acid and proline. It is an intermediary substance in the urea cycle and helps to detoxify excess ammonia. Ornithine is not involved in protein synthesis. With arginine it helps to produce growth hormone. |
