Description: N-Acetylcysteine is a modified form of amino acid cysteine; it is not found in foods. It helps break down mucus and produce glutathione in the body. For other uses of N-acetylcysteine see cysteine and cystine.

Cautions & Side Effects

Safety problems are unknown if used as suggested. Overdose may produce nausea. Do not use it if you have cystinosis or fanconi syndrome. Use it with caution if you are diabetic or if you have a medical history of kidney stones in the family. Safety in pregnant and nursing women, in children and people with liver or kidney disease is unknown.
