Recommended Dosage
Take 5-HTP 50-900 mg daily in divided doses for many months. It is better to take it 1/2 hour before meals. High carbohydrate foods increase the absorption and high protein foods reduce the absorption of 5-HTP.
Cautions & Side Effects
There are no known safety problems if used at suggested dosage. Do not use it with Cardiodopa alone (a drug for Parkinson's disease). Do not use it with other antidepressant drugs. For other drugs, verify it with your practitioner. It can be used with St. John's wort, Ginkgo or Kava. Use this product under the control of an experienced practitioner if you are pregnant, nursing or if you have asthma, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease{sssscleroderma{syphilisautoimmune disorders, {Hypertensiondiabetes, cancer or heart conditions. Safety for people with liver or kidney disease is unknown but high doses and used long periods of time may damage liver. Side effects: Digestive problems, nausea, constipation, gas, apathy, impotence, reduced sexual drive, nightmares (small doses may help, but large doses may aggravate nightmares).
