Supplements for Oral Use
- Folic acid
   
Folic acid helps to prevent miscarriage; used for prevention. Take 0.4-1.0 mg of folic acid daily, in divided doses before and during pregnancy.
- Biotin
  
Biotin helps to overcome biotin deficiency; reduces birth defects; used for prevention. Take 600-900 mcg of biotin daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- DHA
  
DHA is an omega 3 fatty acid; used by pregnant women DHA promotes healthy mental function and healthy vision development in children. Take 1g of DHA daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Fish oil
  
Fish oil contains omega 3 fatty acids; used by pregnant women promotes healthy mental function and healthy vision development in children; helps prevent astigmatism, eczema and allergies in offspring and premature birth, may be used during pregnancy and for postpartum support. Take 6-9 g of fish oil daily, containing 18% EPA and 12% DHA, in divided doses, for many months.
- Multivitamin & minerals
  
Multivitamin & minerals are a nutritional support; they provide a multitude of vitamins and minerals; enhance immune system. Take a multivitamin & minerals for pregnancy daily; before, during and after pregnancy, as suggested on the label. May be used by pregnant women.
- Beta-carotene
 
Beta-carotene reduces birth defects; used for prevention. Take 25,000 IU of beta-carotene daily, in divided doses, for many months. Do not use synthetic beta-carotene if you are a smoker. It may increase the risk of some type of cancers. During pregnancy use beta-carotene under the control of an experienced practitioner.
- Choline bitartrate
 
Choline bitartrate if used by pregnant women, promotes healthy mental function development in children. Take 250-500 mg of choline bitartrate daily, in divided doses, for many months. May be used by pregnant women.
