Supplements for Oral Use
- Black cohosh

Black cohosh is an antispasmodic; alleviates cough. Take 80-120 mg of standardized black cohosh extract daily, containing 2.5% of triterpene glycosides, in divided doses, for many months.
- Bloodroot

Bloodroot is an antispasmodic; relieves cough. Take 2-3 teaspoon of bloodroot daily, in tea form, in divided doses, for many days.
- Blue violet leaf

Blue violet leaf is an expectorant; promotes the expulsion of mucus from throat and lungs; relieves cough. Take blue violet leaf daily, in divided doses, for many months, as suggested on the label.
- Butterbur

Butterbur is an antispasmodic; relieves whooping cough. Take 100-200 mg of standardized and pyrrolizidine alkaloids free butterbur extract daily, containing 15-30 mg of petasin, in divided doses, for many months.
- Wild cherry bark

Wild cherry bark is an antispasmodicis, an antitussive and an expectorant; promotes mucus elimination; relieves cough. Take wild cherry bark daily, in divided doses, for many weeks, as suggested on the label.
- Wild lettuce
Wild lettuce is an antispasmodic, a calmative and an expectorant; it has a calming and relaxing effect; promotes the expulsion of mucus from throat and lungs; relieves dry and irritating cough. Take wild lettuce leaf daily, in divided doses, for many weeks, as suggested on the label.
- Wild yam
Wild yam is an antispasmodic and an expectorant; reduces spasms; promotes the expulsion of mucus from throat and lungs; alleviates cough. Take 3 g of dried wild yam root daily, in divided doses, for many months.
