Elderberry is an aperient; softens stools. Take 10-15 g of dried elderberry flowers in tea form in divided doses, for many weeks. Take berries as suggested on the label.

Milk thistle is an aperient; softens stools. Take standardized milk thistle extract daily, containing 400-600 mg of silymarin, in divided doses, for many months.
- Yellow dock
 
Yellow dock is an aperient; softens stools. Take 1-4 g of dried yellow dock root daily, in divided doses, in tea or capsule form, for many weeks.
- Buckthorn

Buckthorn is an aperient; softens stools. Take buckthorn daily, containing 15-30 mg of anthraquinone glycosides, before bedtime, when you have constipation.
- Calendula

Calendula is an aperient; softens stools. Take 3-6 teaspoon (15-30 g) of calendula flowers daily, in tea form, in divided doses, for many weeks.
- Damiana

Damiana is an aperient; softens stools. Take 2-12 g of damiana daily, in tea or capsule form, in divided doses, for many months.
