Supplements for Oral Use
- Lobelia
 
Lobelia facilitates nicotine withdrawal; reduces nicotine craving. Take lobelia daily, in divided doses, for many weeks, as suggested on the label.
- 5-HTP

5-HTP has a calming and relaxing effect; facilitates nicotine withdrawal; reduces nicotine craving; improves sleep. Take 100-200 mg of 5-HTP daily, before meal and at bedtime for many months.
- l-Phenylalanine

l-Phenylalanine reduces nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Take 2-4 g of l-phenylalanine daily, in divided doses, between meals, for many months.
- Melatonin

Melatonin has a calming and relaxing effect; facilitates nicotine withdrawal; reduces nicotine craving; improves sleep. Take 0.5-3.0 mg of melatonin daily, 1 hour before bedtime, for many months.
- Oat straw

Oat straw is a liver cleanser and a detoxifier; reduces anxiety and nicotine craving; facilitates nicotine withdrawal. Take 1-4 g of oat straw daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Tryptophan

Tryptophan promotes serotonin production; facilitates nicotine withdrawal; reduces nicotine craving and withdrawal symptoms. Take 3-4 g of tryptophan daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Alfalfa
Alfalfa facilitates nicotine withdrawal; reduces nicotine craving. Take 0.5-1.0 g of dried alfalfa leaf daily, in divided doses, for many months. If you want to use seeds, use heat treated varieties. Prefer alfalfa supplements that do not contain canavanine.
