Supplements for Oral Use
- Alpha lipoic acid
   
Alpha lipoic acid slows down the progression; alleviates symptoms; used for prevention and treatment. Take 0.7-1.4 g of alpha lipoic acid daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- GLA
   
GLA nourishes nerves; improves nerve function; alleviates pain and other symptoms. Take 300-600 mg of GLA daily, in divided doses, with meals, for many months. If you take 2-4 g of black currant seed oil, containing 15% of GLA or 1.25-2.50 g of borage oil, containing 24% of GLA or 3-6 g of evening primrose oil, containing 10% of GLA you receive 300-600 mg of GLA. Works better with alpha lipoic acid.
- Acetyl carnitine
  
Acetyl carnitine improves nerve function and sensory perception; promotes nerve regeneration; alleviates nerve pain and other symptoms. Take 2-3 g of acetyl carnitine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Magnesium
  
Magnesium slows down the progression. Take 400-600 mg of magnesium daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Vitamin B1 - Benfotiamine
  
Vitamin B1 - Benfotiamine helps to overcome vitamin B1 deficiency; reduces nerve damage; alleviates symptoms. Take 200-400 mg of benfothiamine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Biotin
 
Biotin reduces blood sugar; alleviates nerve pain; used for prevention and treatment. Take 10-15 mg of biotin daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- DHA
 
DHA is an omega 3 fatty acid; improves nerve function and glucose tolerance; increases insulin sensitivity; alleviates diabetic neuropathy symptoms. Take 1-2 g of DHA daily, in divided doses, for many months.
