Supplements for Oral Use
- Boswellia
 
Boswellia is an anti-inflammatory; reduces duration and severity; alleviates pain and other symptoms. Take standardized boswellia extract daily, containing 0.5-1.5 g of boswellic acids, in divided doses, for many months.
- Calendula

Calendula is an antispasmodic; alleviates spasms and pain. Take 3-6 teaspoon (15-30 g) of calendula flowers daily, in tea form, in divided doses, for many weeks.
- Flax seed

Flax seed is a demulcent; soothes mucous membranes; relieves spasmodic colitis. Take 25-50 g of crushed flax seed daily, in divided doses, with a glass of water, for many months.
- GLA

GLA is an anti-inflammatory; reduces inflammation; alleviates pain and other symptoms. Take 300-600 mg of GLA daily, in divided doses, with meals, for many months. If you take 2-4 g of black currant seed oil, containing 15% of GLA or 1.25-2.50 g of borage oil, containing 24% of GLA or 3-6 g of evening primrose oil, containing 10% of GLA you receive 300-600 mg of GLA.
- Glutamine

Glutamine protects and restores colon linings; regenerates damages cells in the colon; accelerates tissue healing; alleviates symptoms. Take 1.5-3.0 g of glutamine daily, in divided doses, between meals, for many months.
- Wild yam

Wild yam is an analgesic and an anti-inflammatory; reduces colon inflammation and pain; alleviates other symptoms.Take 3 g of dried wild yam root daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Witch hazel

Witch hazel is an astringent; reduces secretions and alleviates colitis. Take 4-9 g of witch hazel daily, in tea form, in divided doses, for many weeks.
