Supplements for Oral Use
- N-Acetylcysteine
   
N-Acetylcysteine is an antioxidant, expectorant and mucolytic; neutralizes free radicals; loosens the mucus; alleviates symptoms. Take 0.5-1.5 g of N-acetylcysteine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Acetyl carnitine
 
Acetyl carnitine improves physical activity tolerance and muscular efficiency of lungs and other muscles; alleviates symptoms. Take 1.5-3.0 g of carnitine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- BCAA's
 
BCAA's improve protein metabolism and energy production; alleviate symptoms. Take 2-5 g of BCAA's daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Beta-carotene
 
Beta-carotene is an antioxidant; neutralizes free radicals; prevents lung infection; enhances immune system; alleviates symptoms. Take 25,000-50,000 IU of beta-carotene daily, in divided doses, for many months. Do not use synthetic beta-carotene if you are a smoker. It may increase the risk of some type of cancers.
- Carnitine
 
Carnitine enhances immune system; improves energy production, physical activity tolerance and muscular efficiency of lungs and other muscles; prevents wasting syndrome. Take 1.5-3.0 g of carnitine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Creatine
 
Creatine increases and maintains muscle strength and endurance; alleviates symptoms. Take 2-6 g of creatine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Echinacea
 
Echinacea enhances immune system; fights infection; alleviates symptoms. Take echinacea daily, in divided doses, for many weeks, as suggested on the label.
