Supplements for Oral Use
- Beta-sitosterol

Beta-sitosterol blocks dihydrotestosterone production; stimulates hair growth. Efficient for androgenic alopecia only. Take 75-150 mg of beta-sitosterol daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Black cohosh

Black cohosh blocks dihydrotestosterone production; stimulates hair growth. For androgenic alopecia and female alopecia only. Take 80-120 mg of standardized black cohosh extract daily, containing 2.5% of triterpene glycosides, in divided doses, for many months.
- Cysteine

Cysteine stimulates hair growth; used mainly for women hair loss. Take 1.0-1.5 g of cysteine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Genistein

Genistein stimulates hair growth. Take 40-80 mg of genistein daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- GLA

GLA stimulates hair growth. Take 300-600 mg of GLA daily, in divided doses, with meals, for many months. If you take 2-4 g of black currant seed oil, containing 15% of GLA or 1.25-2.50 g of borage oil, containing 24% of GLA or 3-6 g of evening primrose oil, containing 10% of GLA you receive 300-600 mg of GLA.
- N-Acetylcysteine

N-Acetylcysteine stimulates hair growth; used mainly for women hair loss. Take 0.5-1.5 g of N-acetylcysteine daily, in divided doses, for many months.
- Saw palmetto

Saw palmetto blocks dihydrotestosterone production; stimulates hair growth. For androgenic alopecia and female alopecia only. Take 320 mg of standardized saw palmetto extract daily, containing 85-95% of fatty acids and sterols, in divided doses, for many months.
